What's your temperature?

the three bears
Do you remember the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears from your childhood? Can you tell the story from memory? Goldilocks tried every pot of porridge. Daddy Bear's was too hot. Momma Bear's was too cold. Baby Bear's was just right! The story goes on but always, always, Goldilocks found something that was just right.

That Awful Feeling...

I heard an eye-opening statistic Sunday. A poll taken in a city with a 13+ million populace revealed Christians never explained how to follow Jesus to 80% of the people polled.   I've been instructed my entire life to 'live good"; be an example. I've wrestled with that ideology all my life too. I fail to see how I can live "good enough" to bring anyone to Christ. Who does it help to attend church? The sinners on the outside of the church or the sinners on the inside? I love church but to say I attend church to help others seems like a selfish endeavor. I attend church to worship God and make myself feel good.

DIY - Vintage Crib Makeover

My sentimental side came out just lately...wwaaayyy out! The vintage love started oozing about 11 months ago when my daughter showed me a blue plus sign on a dip stick. Fast forward to November 20, 2013 and my first grandchild skyrocketed my sentiments to explosive levels. Have you ever visited Disney World and watched the fireworks over Cinderella's castle, felt for yourself and saw the wonder in children's eyes? YAY? Well...You don't even know!Having a grandbaby is better than fireworks at Disney! Try to imagineer that.

5 Ways to Get Rid of a Migraine Quickly

My head hurts! While I slept last night a 14,325 pound African Elephant crawled through my ear. This morning he's being chased by a lion with his enormous feet pounding as he runs. Oh wait, Horton just stopped at a river. What's he doing? Spraying water from his trunk right behind my pupils making my eyes run like a faucet. My teeth feel like they were a stage for his Riverdance audition! Is it a migraine? If it's not, it's real close.

According to WebMD, migraine symptoms include a pounding headache, nausea, vomiting, and light sensitivity. They can also include visual disturbances referred to as auras. It is estimated some 45 million people suffer from this type of headache. I have been diagnosed with a migraine including all the symptoms and visual problems. A migraine headache is quite disturbing. How to get rid of a migraine quickly is a hot topic for good reason.

Here's 5 Ways to Get Rid of a Migraine Quickly:

1. Tap away a migraine with EFT. My daughter uses this. I've seen it work very effectively and quickly.

2. Take Feverfew at the first sign of headache. Feverfew can also be taken every day to help prevent migraine attacks. I've personally used this and it works! Please use my referral code 2926490 if you decide to purchase from Nature's Sunshine via the link. Stock up and keep them on-hand.

3. From my daughter's facebook page. She's not put this remedy to the test but I'm impressed she shared it.

4.  Do reflexology on your feet to relieve a migraine. I L.O.V.E reflexology because it works wonders for many illnesses/disorders. Easy to do on yourself and FREE!

5.  Nutritionists and doctors are taking note of our diets more these days and so should we! I get House Calls from Dr. Hyman (not real ones). I subscribe. You can too! 5 Steps to Solve Your Migraines was especially interesting. There's many more suggestions other than just diet changes in this article. However, I know diet changes reverse or stop many ill health effects.  5 Tips for Problem Eyes is my personal journey of how diet changes can improve your appearance.

I am not a health professional. These statements have not been evaluated by the FDA. They have been evaluated by people like me and you who have migraines and found them to be effective. No prescription required. Minimal out of pocket expense! I hope you find something in this post that works for you.

If you have a quick-fix migraine remedy that you use, please leave me a comment. Sharing your experience may help someone else.

Health to your noggin,

Do you suffer from "Hidden Identity"?

My favorite apple is a Stayman Winesap. I was happy to see this juicy, red specimen in a produce bin grocery shopping last Saturday. I picked it up, squeezed it a bit and my mouth watered. I thought about biting into the apple tasting the tartness at first and then the sweetness that balances every bite. I bagged the apple placing it in my cart; sold.

Yesterday, I ate the apple...almost.  Juice squirted on my knife as I cut. The crunching sound of the knife sliding through the apple skin was music to my ears. I can't stand a mellow apple. My taste buds swelled as I anticipated a delicious bite. My eyebrows furled and my mouth went dry when I saw the brown mushy stuff in its center. My apple was rotten inside! Disappointed, I ate cantaloupe thinking "How could something look so good outside but be so bad inside?" The store didn't know the apple was rotten. The only means to find out was to cut it or basically reveals its insides. This beautiful piece of fruit had a hidden identity.

I fear many people are suffering from "hidden identity." The Bibles states in Proverbs 28:12-13 KJV "When righteous men do rejoice, there is great glory: but when the wicked rise, a man is hidden. He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy." When we sin without confession and forgiveness, it creates a rotten spot in us. Our rotten spot can grow until our outside becomes as rotten as our inside. When we sin we may look like the apple, great on the outside, bad on the inside. Can you imagine what the apple would look like in about two weeks? Totally brown and rotten! We become more rotten the longer we continue to sin.

Does one un-confessed sin really matter that much? You know the old adage "One bad apple spoils the whole basket." Let's just say "One un-confessed sin spoils the whole heart."  An apple is Mother Nature. Sin is human nature. Confession and forsaking our sin to receive mercy is Godly nature.

5 Tips for Problem Eyes

Yes, these are my eyes! They need help! They look like this when I over-indulge. I can help them and you can help yours too! I'm not concerned about my actual eye but those puffy inflamed areas and the dark circles under them. Do you have the same things happening under your eyes?

I believe our diets have so much to do with our health, looks and well-being. I invite you to watch my eye transformation over the next month and join my challenge. Together, we'll prove once and for all how these 5 Tips for Problem Eyes can resolve unsightly puffiness and bags.. If you agree to join me in this challenge, please email me a pic of your worst eye right now (it won't be posted). In four weeks or February 3, I will ask you to email me a picture of what that same eye looks like after following the 5 Tips for Problem Eyes. I will ask your permission to post a before and after pic. If you agree the pics will be posted on this blog.
5 Tips for Problem Eyes
1. Drink at least 48 ounces of pure water a day. Only water counts!

2. Avoid all sodas (diet & regular) you can have tea (diet or regular) and Crystal Light. I love Coke and lovingly refer to it as "poison", because it is!

3. Avoid processed sweets. No cookies, cakes, candy bars from a bag or wrapper. You can make your
own desserts from scratch but please limit them to 2-3 servings per week.

4. Dab a small amount of Vaseline under each eye (not too close to eyeball) before bed on clean skin. Be careful not to get the Vaseline in your eye.

5. Use only oil-based products to remove eye makeup such as Almay Moisturizing Eye Makeup Remover.
Who wants to be kind to their "under" eyes? Let me know if you'd like to join my challenge by commenting or sending me an email at YOU WILL BE AMAZED AT YOUR TRANSFORMATION! The challenge starts tomorrow January 6th.

Can't wait for you to "see" the difference,

Do I mind being called handicapped?

Do I mind being called handicapped? Do you mind being called ugly? Actually, I prefer my given name of Tammy. See how pretty it is...

Handicapped just sounds awful, doesn't it? Not really. I don't mind it. That's why I call myself "The Happy Handicap". I beat you to the punch! Wanna know what word I really hate? CRIPPLED! I would rather be called a witch with a b over crippled. The fact is yes, I am handicapped and may even be the epitome of the word crippled but please don't remind me, OK?

Of course...I can remind myself...because I live with the fact and these feet! My impairment may never be forgotten now, silly me wrote a book about it. My story is a fun tale, not at first but it gets better near the middle and very exciting at the end. Isn't that the way every good book reads? My complete story hasn't been written I'm still typing it as you are reading but I've got my first 44 years in print.  Don't worry the book is not that long! It's an easy read with a gripping story or at least that's what I've been told.

For the New Year, it's available here for just $3.14 Kindle version and $9.14 paperback including shipping! There are some fabulous reviews on my "Shop" page and Amazon! You can watch a pretty sweet video about the book here. Help me out and buy yourself a copy and please don't share it with your friends! Well share the fact they should buy the book and read it but don't share your copy of the book with them. They'll be happier with their own copy!

And, if you find me interesting after you read my story, I do speaking engagements for basically whoever will listen! My contact info is here.

Waiting to hear from you,
The Happy Handicap

The Most Important Item on the Bucket List in 2014

I love a parade! Do you? Did you watch the Rose Parade 2014? This picture was taken of a float in an annual New Year's Rose Parade in Pasadena, California. The Rose Parade was an item on my bucket list that is now in the "done" column. The flowers were breathtaking! I definitely recommend seeing the parade in person. The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City is also in the "done" column of my bucket list.  I also saw the St. Patrick's Day Parade in NYC. I've seen all the parades in Disney World. I just love a good parade.

I remember the parades but I don't remember the year I saw them. The dates really don't matter. I know I saw the parades. I have the memories of the days, the great feelings of seeing the parades and I even have some pictures. So the dates don't matter. I don't remember the date I accepted Jesus as my Savior either. Do you? The date doesn't matter. I have the memories of the day and the overwhelming feeling of the Holy Spirit every day. I KNOW it happened!

John 19:30 says "When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost." He died for our forgiveness. Accepting Christ is the most important item on the bucket list in 2014. Check it off! Please!  Seek him and he will answer. Make the year to open the door to Jesus. If you can move this to the "done" column, you can joyously say "It is finished". I guarantee, salvation is an experience to remember...HAPPY NEW YEAR 2014!

Leave me a comment with a few of your bucket items for 2014. The only one I have is to find a successful work from home job so my husband can retire! Got any ideas?

Kicking the bucket,
The Happy Handicap
