5 Results of a "Short Sufferer"

Have you ever made a rash decision? Did one or several come to mind? You may be a "short sufferer"! The Bible notes patience or longsuffering as a fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22). What did you say? It takes too long for fruit to ripen on the vine. Yes, it does take time to mature and Christians aren't blessed with every fruit of the Spirit immediately. We have to grow and ripen a bit to become a long sufferer. We learn to wait upon the Lord.

There are consequences or missteps of being a short sufferer. Rash or quick actions most often ends with poor results. Misstep is defined as a clumsy or badly judged step. I define misstep as a byproduct of a short sufferer stepping before God has instructed.  Think about going down a staircase and missing a step. You lose your balance, fall and end up hurt. Sometimes you can correct a misstep but not always. Sometimes the hurt from the injury lasts a lifetime.

Here are some misstep results of the short sufferer:
  • broken relationships
  • stressful financial situations
  • a job you hate
  • unruly children
  • anger or sadness
Do you feel like you're waiting on something that isn't going to happen? I would first of all say "Believe it to receive it" and then I would say have some patience. Psalm 40:1 I waited patiently on the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. Please, wait longer and cry louder before taking a step.

5 Truths about Blood

My granddaughter Lisette was five months old on Easter! She is growing so fast. I might not believe it if I didn't see her with my own eyes. Her unbelievable growth reminds me of finding out Sydnee has O- blood. I thought, her entire 25 years of life, her blood was O+. The news was hard to believe. I asked her to have the doctor type her blood a second time just to make absolutely positively beyond a shadow of a doubt sure they were sure!

Have you ever considered how vital blood is to life? You know where I'm going with this, not just for physical life but spiritual life too. John 6:53-54 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.

I was afraid for Sydnee to take the Rh factor shot but I worried more about mixing blood types. Everything worked out but I sure gave blood a good going over in my mind. I want to share with you some ah-ha truths, 5 truths about blood:
  • Blood cannot be made.
  • Blood has to be given freely (donated) from one person to another.
  • Jesus must have O- because he's a universal donor.
  • Jesus never has a blood shortage.
  • Jesus never has "low" blood. His blood will never lose its power.
What can make us whole again? NOTHING BUT THE BLOOD OF JESUS! Blood really is liquid life. Forgiveness of sin by the blood of Jesus Christ is eternal life.

I want to hear from you. Please share your interesting truth about blood in a comment.

Mom-ism Monday #3

Mom-ism Monday #3 is really a grandmother-ism. My maternal grandmother passed away before I was born. My Mom doesn't talk about her a lot. One thing she said though has become a favorite saying at our house.

My Mom tells the story with a girlish grin on her face. She had five sisters. Their mom would want the girls to

5-Minute Restaurant Quality Fajita Seasoning (Gluten-free)

Do you eat gluten-free? My husband is allergic to casein, a protein found in cow's milk. His doctor advised us to eat gluten-free which usually avoids casein too. Packaged seasoning mixes like fajita, taco, beef stew, etc. all contain wheat and therefore, gluten and casein. I tried this recipe for fajita seasoning. The flavor, in my opinion, is

Isn't every Friday Good?

Isn't Every Friday Good?

Are you looking forward to a day off tomorrow? Some people celebrate the holiday without remembering the real meaning of Good Friday. Although the phrase "Good Friday" does not appear in the Bible, Christians continue to celebrate the day set aside by the Roman Catholic Church in the 4th Century A.D to commemorate the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ. Good Friday is also known as Holy Friday in the Romance Languages. It is interesting to know it is only called "Good" in the English Language. It is eye-opening to learn the history behind the origin of Easter. Read about its pagan or ungodly origin at christiananswers.net.

If you have received Jesus and accepted his free pardon of sin, you know the Friday before Resurrection Sunday is good because Christ gave his all for you, for us. Romans 5:8 "But God commandeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."   John 15:13 "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends."

Is Friday your favorite day of the week? Probably! Romans 14:5 says "One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind." I'm persuaded knowing Jesus as my Savior and realizing he was born and resurrected because he loves me, every day is Christmas and every Friday is "Good Friday"!

HAPPY RESURRECTION DAY!
What's your opinion?  Do you recognize every Friday as Good and every day as Christmas?

Mom-ism Monday

Yep, it's Monday again! Here's a quick chuckle to brighten your day.  Mom-ism #2 because some things are worth writing down...

My Mom, that's her over there, has two granddaughters (my kids). I remember her saying this to them before they could even understand what it meant. I understood it! I pulled it out of the old brain vault and used it today with my granddaughter. She was crying uncontrollably. I was losing my patience. She didn't understand it but the words got her attention and I got a brief moment of sanity.

The cute saying shoots straight just like my Mom...point blank! She's hardcore but no one loves us more.

Healthy and Yummy Breakfast Smoothie

I am not a medical doctor. I am in no way suggesting this tonic will relieve any diseases or help in any way medically.
I love this quick, healthy and yummy breakfast smoothie. My kids like it too!

I know, I know! You were excited about WINE being in the smoothie. Wine would be a healthy ingredient to add. Wine is packed full of heart-healthy antioxidants and reservatrol according to The Mayo Clinic. I serve the smoothie in a wine glass because it's extra pretty and inviting to drink!

Click for the printable recipe:

2 Heaping TBSPs Rice Protein Powder (burns fat)
1 TBSP Borage Oil (an inflammation reducing fatty acid)
2 scoops Nature's Sunshine Ultimate Greenzone (provides 1/2 your greens for the day)
1/2 cup frozen sweet dark red cherries (antioxidant)
1/4 cup frozen blueberries (antioxidant)
1 medium ripe frozen banana (potassium)
2 TBSPs honey (local honey fights seasonal allergies)
1 cup ice cubes
1 cup filtered water
Blend 1to 2 minutes or until smooth. Serve immediately in a pretty wine glass. Makes 4 wine glasses.

FYI I created this smoothie as a result of taking Nature's Sunshine Ultimate Greenzone. I just can't seem to eat as many veggies as I should per day. Tammy's Healthy Tonic is a delicious way to make sure you're eating your veggies, burning some fat and reducing your arthritis pain.

Bottoms up,

Gluten-Free Chicken Alfredo

My husband LOVES alfredo sauce! I hate milk.

He has gluten sensitivity and lactose intolerance. I want to keep him feeling well which means he's less cranky (know what I mean?). He requested this favorite of his. I delivered! I used the ingredients pictured right down there to make this deliciousness gluten free and allmmoossttt (I'm stretching it) lactose free. I can vouch for him. I'm pretty sure he didn't experience any discomfort because I didn't hear nor smell any.  :)

I made quite a few substitutions in the recipe I used to make absolutely sure it was gluten-free. For example, I replaced the butter with Ghee and the regular cream cheese with Go Veggie!. I used Lactose Free Milk 2% (only one cup) and our favorite gluten-free pasta De Boles Rice Penne. Mrs. Dash Garlic & Herb is a flavorful staple of mine so I was excited to see it used in this recipe. I couldn't find the Parm lactose free, hence the allmmoossttt lactose free. I grilled some chicken tenders for additional flavor and tossed it on top of the pasta.

Is this the best Chicken Alfredo one has ever eaten? Probably not. Is it a very viable substitute of a favorite dish for a gluten and lactose sensitive individual? ABSOLUTELY! My husband enjoyed it or at least he said he did! Try it out and leave me a comment with your review.

How to turn Gossip into Good!

gossiper

Do you remember the last time someone wanted to hear your  juicy conversation and anxiously yelled "Tell me, tell me!"? Did you tell them? If you did, you are not alone. A Social Issues Research Center reported that gossip accounts for 55% of male conversations and 67% of women's conversations, a much smaller gap between the two sexes than originally thought.

The truth is not gossip, right? That is correct. Gossip is malicious talk of unconfirmed or false origin. Proverbs 15:1-3 reads "A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger. The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness. The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good."

What about spreading good news that is true? Mark 16:15 instructs us to "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." One line my pastor said this past Sunday stuck in my head. He said "We should pass on the good news!" Immediately, the ugly face of gossip jumped into my mind. God quickly replaced my thought with his revelation. Telling the good news about the truth of Jesus Christ makes one a "GOD"-siper, not a gossiper! Psssttt, pass it on!

Feel free to leave me a comment with your thoughts.

Preach it ya'll,
Tammy

My Unusual Thoughts on "God's Not Dead" The Movie

The answer to your question is no. I'm not a movie critic and I haven't seen the movie "God's not Dead". I am a bit amazed at the activity a single movie can stir. I've received several text messages that simply says "God's not Dead". There must be a text or social media challenge at the end of the movie. If I were a pastor
