What Happens when Dogs Lust
Meet my canine companion Hermie. Like all good pals he's got nicknames.
You might hear him called Hermdog, the Hermeister or simply Herm! I love
this mutt. He greets me at the door when I come in, sleeps with me
(don't judge) and relies on me for his most basic needs. I know Herm
loves me. He shows me by sitting on my lap, giving me kisses and
behaving. He knows the house rules and follows them.
Herm enjoys a nice romp in the yard. He runs around without a care in the world until he gets a whiff of a rabbit. He can't resist his hunter instincts. And he's off! The rabbit heads straight toward the tall grass of our hay fields with Hermie close behind. In warm weather, he comes home with grass seed matted in his beautiful black fur like his picture.
I'm aggravated! It takes me an hour to comb out those pesky seeds. I clean him up. We make up and the love continues. He knows no matter how far his lust for rabbits take him, I'll always clean his fur. I know no matter how many times I have to clean his fur, he's my dog and I love him.
While I'm grooming him, I talk and he listens. I tell him it would be more pleasant for him and me if he didn't run through the tall grass. He wouldn't get his hair pulled out with a small tooth comb and I wouldn't have to be disappointed to see him in this shape. Some days he sees the rabbit and doesn't chase it.
Do you ever get a whiff of a rabbit and chase it? Of course we do! The Bible says in James 1:14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. We don't plan sin. We allow sin to happen. Can we avoid it? Absolutely! We can resist temptation but what happens if we don't?
When we come home, Jesus clean us up. We make up and the love flows freely. No matter how far lust takes us, Jesus will always forgive us. No matter how many times he has to forgive our sin, we're his child and he loves us. He always warns us not to chase rabbits, sometimes we listen and sometimes we don't.

A True Momma
How can you tell if you're a true momma? A true momma loves her children more than herself. King Solomon wisely discerned this motherly love when a mom willingly gave her child away to save its life. I Kings 3:27 says "Then the king answered and said, Give her the living child, and in no wise slay it: she is the mother thereof." We see examples of true mothers in the story of Moses and Jesus also. A mother will go to great lengths to protect her child unselfishly.
Remember your mom every day but especially this Sunday on Mother's Day. You may never know what sacrifices she has made for you. Trust me. If she's a true momma, she's made them!

5 Miracles in Your Life Right Now
Yesterday, I shared my story with the friendly folks at beautiful Cohutta Springs Conference Center in Crandall, Georgia. The setting is so peaceful and serene. I am so thankful for the opportunity. I trust their hearts were touched as much as mine.
Today, I want to share with you 5 miracles in your life right now that you may be overlooking. God performs miracles in our lives everyday. Humans turn miracles into everyday happenings until they become expected and commonplace. Do you have any of these miracles in your life?

Miracle #1: Your parents. Thank your parents right now for giving you life. You may not agree with them, you may not know them, you may be estranged, you may live right in their back door like I do. Whatever your situation, if your parents didn't meet, conceive and give you life, you wouldn't be here.
Miracle #2: Your spouse. Spouses are most often a blessing. Have you thanked your spouse lately for the simple things they do? Told them you love them? Spent time with them? Tell them they are your very own miracle today.
Miracle #3: Your children or grandchildren. My daughter who just gave birth tickles me. She says almost everyday when she looks at her baby "Mom, do you know how many things have to go right to have a baby?" I would guess about a zillion although I don't have any documented scientific proof. Look at your children differently today for they are a miracle in your life right now!
Miracle #4: Your faith. The unconditional love of Jesus dying for us is a miracle. He died for our forgiveness and freedom. Accept it today. My son-in-law wisely told me yesterday "Love is the only worth in this world." He's so right. Love is the only thing worth living and dying for.
Miracle #5: YOU. Believe in yourself because you are a miracle! Give thanks for your breath, your health, your intelligence, your uniqueness, everything that is you because there is only one of you. Realize you are making your imprint on someone right now. Whatever your role is in your family, society, your job, your church, your school, wherever you are, inhale and then slowly exhale. Purpose to be the best miracle you can be. After all, you were designed for the life you live today and errday!

Mom-ism Monday #4
Mom-ism Monday #4 is a Dad-ism. My Dad enjoys the somewhat lost art of trading. He also likes to find items at a bargain, repair them and sell for a profit, especially tractors! He can salvage a tractor that looks like it's ready for the scrap metal pile better than anyone I know. He's always looking for a deal. I'm a lot like him. I love to try to find deals and turn a quick buck. He's much better at it than me. He's got way more experience. He's fine-tuned his art over the last 76 years!
Last week, we visited an old home place close to where we live. We picked up some antique windows. One of my deals. As he gazed over the property, looking around like he was looking for something he lost, he turned to me and said "I could have bought this place." Knowing who the original owner was, I said "Mr. Lunsford offered to sell it to you?" "Yep" he said, with a tone that I understood. He wished he had bought it. Thinking about the missed opportunity again, he turned to me and said....
"I could have bought it for a song and sung it myself" is a Dad-ism I had never heard. Have you? The philosophy in the phrase astounds me. How much easier could it get to buy something for a song you can sing yourself? I have put the phrase to work in my vocabulary arsenal already!

As he gazed over the property, looking around like he was looking for something he lost, he turned to me and said "I could have bought this place." Knowing who the original owner was, I said "Mr. Lunsford offered to sell it to you?" "Yep" he said, with a tone that I understood. He wished he had bought it. Thinking about the missed opportunity again, he turned to me and said....
