Can You Hear Me Now?

static

Can you hear me now? This popular phrase is used mockingly, humorously, with frustration and sometimes anger in today's society! Verizon coined the phrase for a commercial to advertise the strength of their mobile network. I imagine God uses this phrase (in humor and in anger) speaking to us. Can't you just imagine

Wheel of Problems

Let's face it. We have problems. Some big, some small, some solvable and some seem insurmountable. Take a look at the problem wheel. Do you see a problem you're facing right now? If we didn't have problems, we wouldn't need God! Truth is if we didn't have problems bigger than us, we wouldn't praise God for his awesomeness for solving them. "God is bigger than our problems!" If you have God, you have the best insurance or assurance policy money can't buy. He's better than the "Good Hands People" (Allstate), He's "On Your Side" (Nationwide), "Like a Good Neighbor, God is There" (State Farm), "Let God Be Your Rock" (Prudential) and my favorite "Get God, It Pays" (MetLife)! Today, when you survey your problems again,

REMEMBER...

  1. Be Assured - God has known the date, time and complexity of your problem since time began. You didn't have to report it to a claims office.
  2. Rest Assured - God has a plan to resolve your problem. You won't need to provide three estimates for his review.
  3. Stay Assured - God will never leave or forsake your problem. You are his #1 priority!
Here's some thought-provoking "problem" quotes:
  • "The best way out is always through" - Robert Frost
  • "Happiness is not the absence of problems, it's the ability to deal with them" - Steve Maraboli
  • "Once you become aware that the main business you are here for is to know God, most of life's problems fall into place of their own accord" - J.I. Packer
  • "Selfishness and greed, individual or national, cause most of our troubles" - Harry S. Truman
  • "Know that love is ultimately the only answer to mankind's problems" - Martin Luther King Jr.

3 Fundamental ABC's for Life

wisdomForgotten your abc's and 123's? Didn't think so! We learn our abc's and 123's very young. We don't forget them. We use them as a foundation for learning to read, add and subtract. I've put together a grown-up list of abc's and 123's. These are things I've learned and use everyday to help me keep it all together. If you have one you'd like to add to the list, please email it to me. I will share them next week.

A. Accept Everybody. This means accepting everything about them (even the stuff you don't like).
B. Believe Anyway. When everyone else has moved on, trust your faith.
C. Communicate Continually. The only person who reads minds is God and even he wants to hear from you.

1. Take time and care for yourself. You'll be able to give more to others.
2. Soak up wisdom from your elders, especially your parents then...practice it.
3. Love Jesus with every ounce of your being.

Some may think that if you do number 3, the other things just come natural. I wish! We are born with a sin nature and struggle even on our best days. God certainly helps us but it takes extra effort to manhandle or womanhandle our beings into submission. Agreed?
An important lesson I've learned lately...Life is best lived one day at a time! What have you learned?

Still learning,

Are you Dumb as a Rock?

Jesus' descent at the Mount of Olives was greeted by a multitude of his disciples rejoicing and praising God with a loud voice for all his mighty works they had seen saying "Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the

How God Used Facebook to Save my Husband's Life

Duke University
Steve at Duke University Medical Clinic
Steve loathed Facebook since the day I created my account. He says "Facebook isn't good for anything but gossip and confusion!"

March 2012, Steve had a lung biopsy diagnosing IPF (idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis). We were basically told it was terminal with no treatment available. The news left a lump in my throat that I couldn't swallow. I felt
